Alloy Block

The motorsport fraternity's obsession with component weight is widely accepted. So we have commissioned an aluminium alloy replacement for the GM cylinder block giving a 19kg weight saving.

With a race prepared XE engine typically weighing in at around 120kg, the alloy block represents a substantial weight saving and when in a lightweight vehicle, such as a seven, the difference in power to weight ratio becomes very significant.

When we first commissioned the alloy block we decided to make sure it was completely interchangeable with the standard block. It will therefore accept all standard items e.g. sump pan etc

Another feature of the original design was to accept an 88mm bore with a 94mm stroke. This gives the block a potential 2.3L capacity.
